Search Warrant on Zoo Road Yields Trafficking Amount of Cocaine and Cash.

During the afternoon of Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 Narcotics Agents with the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 1064 Zoo Road North in Roanoke Rapids.  This was the residence of Matthew Lamont Garner (47). An extensive investigation of the sale and delivery of narcotics at this residence Agent B. Murphy to apply for and receive a search warrant. 

Upon execution of the search warrant, Agents located approximately 63 grams of crack cocaine, paraphernalia consistent with narcotics sales, and approximately $8,500 in cash.  Agents seized the items and arrested Matthew Garner who was at the residence at the time of the search warrant.  Garner was charged with:

• Trafficking in Cocaine,

• Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine,

• Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances,

• Possession of marijuana, and

• Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Garner has an extensive criminal history having been convicted of Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon (1994), Common Law Robbery (1993), Felonious Possession of Cocaine (2003), and Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Cocaine (2016). Garner was jailed at the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office under a $30,000 bond.  Garner’s first court date is scheduled for December 15th, 2022.
