On Monday 11-28-2022, members of the Nash County Sheriff's Office received a report of a suspicious person at the Circle K convenience store located on NC 43 in Dortches. The clerk of the store advised that the male operator of the vehicle was acting suspiciously and was unloading items from the back of the vehicle.

vehicle was some sort of Rescue vehicle with official markings on the side of it. Upon arrival by Deputies, they observed a white male who appeared to be working on a Chevrolet Suburban vehicle. The vehicle was marked with the name 'Latta Rescue' on the side of it. The vehicle was checked NCIC but was not currently listed as stolen. The Patrol supervisor on scene began looking up Latta Rescue on Facebook and found a post that they had made earlier showing one of their Rescue vehicles had been stolen, and it had a photo of the same vehicle the suspect was currently driving. Contact was made with Latta Rescue out of South Carolina and law enforcement agencies there, who confirmed the vehicle was stolen from their jurisdiction, but had not been entered into NCIC yet. 

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Nash County Detention Center where he was charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and was placed under a $15,000 secured bond, however he was also being held on a Fugitive Warrant as South Carolina law enforcement wished to extradite him back to South Carolina for the original larceny of the vehicle and the burglary of the Rescue Building. 

He is currently in the Nash County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to South Carolina.
