Case of a man beaten to death in his Rocky Mount home 20 years ago still unsolved

LEWIS DONNELL HINES was 40 years old at the time of his murder. On December 9th, 2000 Lewis was found in his home beaten to death.

There was a history of altercations with other males in the neighborhood and also his girlfriend at the time. His girlfriend had hit Lewis in the head with a baseball bat on a previous occasion.

He was found on his living room floor with his pants down. There was forced entry to the home, the front door was kicked in and items were in disarray. He was found on 12/9/2000 around noon however, the medical examiner listed the time of death around 1am.

Per the autopsy report Mr. Hines died of blunt force trauma to the head.

He also had several abrasions on his body.
