CASE OF TEENAGER SHOT AT POINT BLANK RANGE IN 2011 STILL UNSOLVED - ROCKY MOUNT


Police officers were called to the 700 block of Branch Street around 12:30 a.m. June 13th, 2014 after RMPD got reports of gunfire in the area. When officers arrived, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to Nash General Hospital.


Devonta Jaquan Eburg, 18 died at the hospital from his injuries. The other victim, a 17-year-old, was treated and released. A short time later, two other victims ages 21 and 26 arrived at the hospital with injuries from the incident. They were also treated and released.


Eburg was shot point blank in the temple area of his head and then also shot in his back. The autopsy reports states a CONTACT PEFORATING GUNSHOT WOUND TO THE HEAD

The wound has circumferential soot deposition. Meaning the firearm was close enough to leave soot and gunpowder on the victim.


There were witnesses on scene and three others wounded and no one is talking.
