THESE FAMILIES AND VICTIMS DESERVE JUSTICE. Ten females from Rocky Mount, NC went missing from June 2003 to April 2009. With six females found deceased in the same area and another two found just a few miles away it is hard to say it is a coincidence. Antwan Maurice Pittman was charged and sentenced to life in prison for one of the murders, the murder of Taraha Nicholson who went missing in February of 2009 and was found in March 2009 on Seven Bridges Rd in rural Edgecombe County.
Other murders could be tied to him, however, the DISTRICT ATTORNEYS do not wish to pursue. Some of the missing and then found women below have been linked to Pittman and he could be tried on their cases, but the DA does not want to. Since he is already serving life...... Pittman who was a teenager in 1994 been charged for attempting to rape a 2-year-old he served nearly a three-year sentence for that charge after he pled guilty. He was one of the first twenty people entered into the offender registry in Edgecombe County. In 2007 he was charged with soliciting a prostitute and those charges were dropped because the officer was unable to testify as he was out of the country on a military assignment. Pittman had been charged multiple times with driving while intoxicated. Coincidentally, on the very night of Jarniece Hargrove’s disappearance, a state trooper found Pittman asleep in his 1996 Pontiac Bonneville on the side of Seven Bridges Road, about 200 yards from where Hargrove’s body would eventually be discovered. The trooper observed that Pittman's boots were dirty and that his fly was unzipped. Pittman was booked for DWI, and his license was revoked from prior DWI’s. Another female Christine Boone was found near a mobile home in Scotland Neck that was occupied by Pittman at the time of her disappearance. Nine of these cases are still UNSOLVED. Although lots of circumstantial evidence points to Pittman it is not enough to convict him. Pittman claimed he was innocent in the murder of Taraha Nicholson however, he was convicted and sentenced. He has not been very forthcoming with information. He is in Central Prison after being transferred from the Tabor City Correctional Center in NC in May of 2019. He has had 14 infractions while in prison from assault, having weapons, unauthorized leave and theft. Many think that Joyce Renee Durham who has been missing since June 17th, 2007 is another victim of Pittman’s serial adventure. However, she has not been found.
