Convicted Felon arrested for pointing a gun while riding down the road - RR

On June 11, 2020 at approximately 11:09pm Officers with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department responded to the Sheetz parking lot in regards to a subject pointing a gun while they were riding down the road. Officer S. Langley responded to the area where Det. D. Moore had located the vehicle on the Sheetz parking lot. Through further investigation and a search of the vehicle a handgun was located in the rear of the front passenger seat wrapped up in a sock. The rear passenger who was identified as David Edwards 22, from the Roanoke Rapids area was identified as the subject pointing the gun.                

Officer S. Langley placed Edwards under arrest and brought him before a magistrate. Through further investigation it was determined Edwards was a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Officer S. Langley charged David Edwards with possession of a firearm by a felon, and carrying a concealed weapon and placed under a $5,000 bond with a court date of July/17/2020. Master Officer M.
