Man arrested after accident with patrol vehicle. - RR

On June 3, 2020 at approximately 12:47pm officers with the Roanoke Rapids Police Department were in the area of Smith Church Rd. and Hwy 158 in regards to a wreck involving a patrol car and another vehicle. Officer J. Rowland was directing traffic at the intersection where the wreck occurred when a mini van came through and nearly hit him. The subject in the van slowed down but refused to stop. Officer H. Grimes attempted to stop the vehicle in regards to the violation, but the vehicle failed to stop for the blue lights and siren. The vehicle continued West and Sgt. A. Salmon assisted Officer Grimes when the vehicle would not stop. The vehicle finally pulled over near Virginia Ave. and Hwy 158 where Sgt. A. Salmon and Officer H. Grimes approached the vehicle to arrest the subject for failing to stop for blue lights and siren. The suspect did not comply with officers commands during their attempt to arrest him, but was eventually taken into custody with no further incident.       

The driver was taken into custody and identified as Antiona Daniels 34, from the Roanoke Rapids area. The driver was carried before a magistrate and charged with; Fail to obey a traffic officer, resisting a public officer, and fail to heed blue lights and sirens and he also had an outstanding order for arrest where he failed to appear in court on a separate charge. Mr. Daniels was placed under a $1000 bond for the RRPD charges and a $400 bond for the order for arrest and given a court date of July 31, 2020
