Man charged with shooting female - Rocky Mount

On April 6, 2021, at approximately 6:20 p.m., the Rocky Mount Police

Department responded to a shooting with injury in the 200 block of N. Pine St.


When officers arrived, they located the victim, a 40-year-old female. They initially stated that the female was shot in the leg and then advised that she was shot in the neck.


However, after EMS arrived they advised that she had sustained gunshot wounds to her wrist and earlobe. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to UNC Nash Healthcare with non-life-threatening injuries.


RMPD conducted a thorough investigation including a search warrant for 725 Sunset Ave Rocky Mount which resulted in the arrest of 35 year old RODERICK JOSHUA of that residence.


A firearm was located as a result of the search warrant. That firearm had been reported stolen.


RODERICK JOSHUA was charged with Assault With a Deadly Weapon With Intent To Kill Or Inflict Serious Injury and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.


He is scheduled for his first appearance in Nash County Court tomorrow.
