UPDATE TO STORY WE FIRST TOLD YOU ABOUT FRIDAY
Rocky Mount Officers responded to the Circle K across from the city lake in Rocky Mount at 10:58 p.m. on Thursday after reports of a robbery.
Marcellus Lemar Harrison 37, entered the store and asked for 3 packs of cigarettes, when the cashier was ringing him up Harrison made a threat and demanded all the money in the cash register and two more packs of cigarettes. The cashier could see what appeared to be a weapon protruding from his clothing.
After taking the money and cigarettes Harrison left the store and ran towards Piedmont Ave. RMPD arrived and dispatched their K-9 in the area and found some of the money on the ground near the railroad tracks behind city lake.
The employee was able to identify the suspect because he had an altercation at the store with a customer on June 1st. Harrison had an active warrant for damage to property in that incident where he damaged a customers vehicle.
Harrison was ultimately found at his residence on the 1100 block of Lafayette Ave. he was taken into custody without incident.
Harrison has over a dozen court cases pending from fleeing to elude, two DWI charges, speeding 45 mph over the speed limit, reckless driving, damage to property, drug charges and a Felony Robbery and Felony Larceny charge.
He was also convicted in 2016 on common law robbery charges.
Harrison was jailed under a $150,000 secured bond at the Nash County Detention Center,
