Murder of Tarboro Pizza Hut manager still unsolved after 33 years - Reward up to 15K offered

SEEKING JUSTICE FOR JOHN ROY RIECK 40, 1502 WESTERN BLVD TARBORO 8/31/1987


Witnesses saw a 1970's model light colored Ford LTD in the parking lot around midnight that MAY had been involved.

Two suspects are described as a black male and a dark complexion HISPANIC MALE. These suspects would be in their 50's-60's now.

On 8/31/1987 around midnight Roy John Rieck who was 40 years old at the time was closing up the Pizza Hut located at 1502 Western Blvd in Tarboro where he was the manager.


Rieck was a husband and a father of 3 children. He was also a retired Marine.


A group of individuals approached Rieck to rob him. Rieck was beaten with a chair and stabbed over 30 times before the suspects fled and took his briefcase.


Rieck was still able to contact his wife and call for help. When EMS and Police arrived he was only able to provide a little information. He passed away before arriving to the hospital.

His briefcase was later found near I-95.

DNA evidence was collected and an arrest may be coming soon. However, if you know something say something.
