Nine businesses robbed in two weeks, with six of the robberies occurring in Rocky Mount


Over the last two weeks nine robberies have occurred and another occurred about 4 weeks ago.

Each of the robberies included a firearm and in most of them someone was assaulted.

 

On Monday January 4th 2021 around 9:15pm the Kangaroo Express on the 900 block of W Raleigh Blvd was robbed by a unknown male.

Newports, Cigarillos, money and Natural Light was taken in the incident.


 

On Friday January 15th, 2021 at approximately 9:51 pm., the Rocky Mount police department responded to a robbery in progress at Fairview Mart 305 N Fairview Rd. When officers arrived, they located the victim, Ali Khalil. Khalil stated two (2) men entered the business brandishing a firearm. Khalil fired two rounds at the suspects from his handgun. The men fled the scene before officers arrived.


The suspects' description was approximately 6 feet tall with a jeans jacket, blue jeans, and dark sneakers. The second male was wearing a grey toboggan with blue jeans and grey sneakers.


 

On Saturday January 16th, 2021 around 820 pm the Family Dollar in Castalia was robbed.


 

On Monday January 18th, 2021 at approximately 9:57 pm., the Rocky Mount Police department responded to a robbery at 1858 Stone Rose Dr (Lucky 777). When officers arrived, they located the manager, Sultan Alyafeai. Alyafeai stated four (4) men attempted to rob the business. The security guard fired one (1) round, and the suspects fled from the area. There was no evidence that anyone was injured.


The description of the suspects are as follows:

-Suspect one (1) is wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and white shoes. The subject is also wearing a black mask.

-Suspect two (2) wearing a blue hoodie, blue bandana, black mask, brown pants, and black boots

-Suspect three (3) is wearing a black mask, brown coat, black hoodie, black pants, and white shoes and carrying a long black rifle.

Suspect four (4) is wearing a white and black mask, black coat, black pants, and black shoes, carrying a long black rifle.

 

Tuesday January 19th, 2021 around 8:47pm the Dollar General on the 2100 Block of Forest Hills Rd W in Wilson was robbed.


Police have not released a suspect description or what was taken.


 

On Wednesday January 20th,2021 around 9:08pm Fighting Crime advised of a robbery in progress at 1428 S Church St in Rocky Mount at the City Dollar.

Per RMPD two males came in the store demanded money and assaulted a person.


Initial radio traffic stated that the suspect fired shots, at this time that has not been confirmed.


RMPD arrived on scene moments later to find patrons coming out of the business. Witnesses stated that the two suspects fled the business on foot.


RMPD combed through surveillance footage and released a description of the suspects to local law enforcement.


EMS was called when one person needed medical attention for an abrasion on their head.


 

On Thursday January 21st, 2021 around 820pm a black male wearing a beanie cap, blue jean jacket and jeans robbed the sweepstakes located on Main St in Spring Hope. An employee was assaulted.


The suspect is driving a BLUE vehicle,


 

On Monday January 25th , 2021 around 430am the Sheetz on N Old Carriage Rd was robbed by two black males who fled on foot out the back door. Money was stolen.

Thursday January 28th 2021 around 830 pm the Family Dollar on the 6500 block of Ward Blvd was robbed by 2 black males. The clerk was assaulted.

The suspects fled in a vehicle.


 

On Thursday January 28th, 2021 around 830 pm the Family Dollar on the 6500 block of Ward Blvd in Wilson was robbed by 2 black males. The clerk was assaulted.



 

On Thursday January 28th, 2021 around 930pm the Food Lion on Goldrock Rd was robbed by two black males who fled on foot and left in a vehicle that was possibly parked at the Dollar General Parking lot. The clerk was assaulted.
