Rocky Mount teen charged with Kidnapping & Robbery in Tarboro

“On June 10th, 2020, members of the Tarboro Police Department responded to Northgate Apartments regarding a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers noted several groups of individuals gathered, but no altercation. As officers began to disperse the crowd they were directed to a specific apartment where the incident had supposedly occurred. A follow-up at this apartment did not provide any additional information. Several individuals were asked to leave the area and they complied.

On June 11th, 2020, the police department received a report of an aggravated assault that had occurred the previous day at Northgate Apartments. Upon investigating the complaint, officers discovered that a 15-year-old juvenile had been physically assaulted with a firearm inside an apartment at the complex. During the assault, money was taken from the juvenile’s clothing and he was forced to remain in the apartment against his will. It was also determined that the incident was related to the fight in progress call the previous day.

Based upon the information provided, investigating officers positively identified the suspect as an 18-year-old Rocky Mount man. It was also learned that the suspect was already incarcerated based upon an earlier arrest by other members of the police department for various weapons violations. As such, the suspect was served with additional warrants for: one (1) count of First Degree Kidnapping; one (1) count of Assault With a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury; and one (1) count of Robbery With a Dangerous Weapon. He received an additional $100,000.00 bond for the new charges and remained in the custody of the Edgecombe County Detention Center.”
