TWO DIFFERENT CHASES RESULT IN ARRESTS BY NCSO


On Wednesday January 27th 2021 around 9 am a vehicle failed to stop for a NCSO deputy near Sandy Cross. The vehicle, with New Jersey tags was last seen going down 97 towards interstate 95. NCSO lost the vehicle and quickly found it heading North on 95. The driver reached speeds over 100 mph and headed on 64 east and took the Winstead Ave exit.


When NCSO arrived to the exit a good Samaritan was pointing up the ramp to let them know that the driver went in that direction.


The chase went from Winstead to Old Mill and Bethlehem Rd area to 301 North. When the driver made it to Rocky Mount Overhead Door on 301 north he went around the building and back on 301 this time heading South. He went 301 south to Benvenue Rd where he eluded police down Benvenue to Dortches and then made a u-turn and headed back into town.

The driver continued down Benvenue past the Mills and then crashed near Peachtree/Grace St where he was taken into custody.


The driver was identified as Carl Martin Jr., 36 years old from Irvington NJ.


He was charged with:

flee to elude arrest.

reckless driving to endanger

Speeding

Simple Possession of Schedule VI


He is still in Nash County Jail



On Thursday January 28th 2021 around 1030pm NCSO was on interstate 95 when a BMW went past the deputy at 120 mph. The deputy tried to stop the driver however he kept going. The chase started in Nash County near the Wilson County Line and continued South through Wilson County and then into Johnston County taking the Micro exit. The vehicle then crashed at Micro Rd/W Beaulah Rd.
